The phrase "Beauty will save the world" is extrapolated from
The Idiot, a relatively famous book by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. In it the
gentle, innocent and kind hearted Prince Myshkin is often viewed as an idiot
because he loves with almost no guile or pretense and he holds to such seemingly naive beliefs.
Dostoevsky's unshakable belief that God Is Beauty and the source of all beauty plays heavily into his creation of Prince Myshkin, the "perfectly beautiful man".
Farmer Fred's eureka moment came when these two ideas combined: Beauty Will Save the World AND God is Beauty. It seemed like the perfect theme to accompany his busking activities where he freely distributes beautiful little prayer helpers in the form of our home grown Visio Divina Cards and Lynn Garlick's Beautiful Retablos.
The goal of busking is simply to give people some joy, bless them with a
little beauty and freely distribute some lovely, hope filled prayer aids to those
who are attracted to that sort of thing. Any gifts given go straight back
into growing more produce to give away. See
Photon Farms Financials here.
Many books, movies, sermons, lectures, poems, songs, works of art and life experiences have cultivated the soil that led to this venture of expressing beauty freely to others. For example, Pontifex University, David Clayton's Substack, and several courses at the Theology of the Body Institute have all imbued a sense of wonder and beauty into the old farmer and for that we are extremely grateful.
Remember, all produce on the farm is freely given
and never for sale. All donations to the farm
are tax deductible as we are a registered 501(c)(3).
If you've been blessed by our produce and would
love to make sure others get blessed too,
use the 'Donate' button below to pay it forward.
