'Spiritual Direction' is not a familiar term to many people, so let's take
some steps to understand it first.
What is Spiritual Direction?
- A journey of faith and discovery of God's will.
What Spiritual Direction is NOT:
- It is not formation, catechesis, psychological counseling, pastoral counseling, therapy, professional coaching or twelve step sponsorship.
A Spiritual Director is:
- One who prays and listens to another to see where God shows up in the life of the Directee.
- One who joins the directee in hearing and experiencing the Holy Spirit who is the GPS for the spiritual path.
- A sheepdog to help keep the sheep in relationship to the Shepherd and flock.
- One who prays.
A Spiritual Directee is:
- One who seeks God and the spiritual path to draw closer to him
- One who prays.
When is it?
- Spiritual direction is a monthly 45-50 minute session beginning at a mutually agreed upon time and location (Zoom is an option). It also takes place in a retreat or other circumstance by which a directee will benefit from a single or shorter-term period of direction.
Confidentiality:
- Information shared in spiritual direction is confidential and will not be discussed or released to anyone, except in cases where there is sufficient cause to believe that life is in danger.
Fees:
- Like all of the produce of Photon Farms, Spiritual Direction is always offered for free and never for sale. Training:
- I, Farmer Fred Hayward, have received some of the most beautiful and thorough training for this specific ministry through the Spiritual Direction Certification at Divine Mercy University.
Next steps:
- If being accompanied in this way in your journey closer to God sounds like something you would like, you will start by filling out a form that will guide us in our initial meeting (click here).
- The information from the form will come to me and I will reach back out to you to set up an initial meeting (usually on phone or Zoom) to clarify what it is we will be seeking together with the Lord.
- If after that you still decide this is something you wish to do we will set up a time and a place for our first monthly meeting (in person or Zoom) and continue doing so as long as you find our relationship beneficial.
