Rosary

This little booklet moved me to pray the
Rosary years before I darkened the doors
of a Catholic Church.

Years before I ever thought of moving into the Byzantine fold, as a Christian Reformed guy who had grown up Baptist, I began praying The Holy Rosary.  It all started one weekend when I was on retreat that I stumbled on a little booklet entitled 'Scriptural Rosary'.  I was intrigued, purchased it and gobbled it all up in one sitting.  I found that my Catholic friends were very meticulous in their application of scripture to their favorite devotion!

Also within the booklet came an excellent summative history of how the Rosary developed from the earliest centuries of the Church until today (click here to read it) and the most beautiful woodcut style icons of the life of Christ I'd ever seen.

I was hooked.  I began a ten year journey that eventually found me praying the Rosary every day.  Real men pray the Rosary!  I just laughed at the raised eyebrows of my friends when I told them this!

I eventually called The Christianica Center that published the little booklet and obtained permission from John Palmer Gabriel to use the icons in a not for profit manner to promote meditation on Jesus with the Rosary.  The rest is history as they say and has developed through many variations to what you see today.

So, enough of my story, below are digital representations of the Rosary Prayer cards.  I have recorded all four Rosary sets.  They are all intoned in the sing-song E major style that I typically pray in.  Having been formed in the faith by Byzantine chant, I tend to move right along at a good clip which some call machine gun prayers lol!  It definitely doesn't work for everyone, but for me it keeps up better with my mind which is always racing around.

Each recorded mystery has its own 'album art' that should display if loaded in your phone or tablet's music app as a point of focus as you pray.  You can find all these recordings here or click on the individual links below.  Blessings!
